Finally hitting the road!

Finally hitting the road!

This week has been a little crazy! I thought we were prepared but turns out I've been to the shops more in the last 4 days than i have all year.

We had lists galore but that hasn't made the last 4 days any less hectic. Now we are on the road I wish I had done more in weeks previous, bought a little more food every time I went to the shops, or started organising everything in boxes weeks prior rather than days. In saying that the lists we have had from previous camping treks made packing the camping gear easy. I'm sure we've forgotten something, I'll let you what it is when we find out ourselves, needless to say we are literally packed to the brim!

Days before we left a close friend of ours asked us if we wanted to join them for a couple of days at their yearly family holiday at Nigaloo station. We couldn't pass up the opportunity even if it was only for a few days on our way to Exmouth. Exmouth was a last minute addition to our trip. We have been meaning to get up there since our friends moved up 5 years ago... worst friends right! I couldn't think of a better way to start our road trip,  spending time with friends, being on the coast and hopefully getting to swim with whale sharks,  yep whale sharks, tick that one off the bucket list if it happens.

We decided to go via the coast for a little more scenic start to the trip. Past Lancelin, Cervantes, through Jurien Bay, I'm sure we'll be back for a closer look soon. We shared the driving, waking from a nap Mr got extremely excited to inform me we were approaching the first corner since Kalbarri, about 2 hours previous, its the small things right! The 10 hour trip didn't seem that long at all, but both of us said maybe it was the excitement that got us through, cos it sure ain't the scenery.

We've got into Carnarvon just as the sun was setting and found accommodation. Reception checked us in an hour after closing without batting an eye lid, country hospitality hey? We were recommended to head to the BP for dinner, a restaurant attached called outback. I can totally recommended going if you are ever in Carnarvon! The customer service was great, actually refreshing, not to mention the food.

Tommorrow it's off to Ningaloo station for relaxing,  boating and fishing, sounds tough right.  We'll be out of reception for a few days but will update you once we have service again.
